韓國專利局表示，自2006年起，涉及透明顯示技術（如智慧玻璃視窗、透明的顯示視窗）的申請案件有逐漸增多的傾向，在韓國專利局於2011年5月26日所發布的分析中顯示，在2006年時，僅有47件前述類型申請案，2007年時增加為109件，2008年為110件，2009年有147件，至於2010年當年則共受理142件該類型之申請案。在這些申請案當中，主要是以涉及透明薄膜電晶體 (transparent thin film transistor) 以及透明導電膜為主。此外，在所有前述類型申請案中，約有88％的申請人為韓國企業，如LG Display（57件）、Samsung Electronics（53件）等。
